Today for the summer learning journey task I did the cicada task about the cicada life cycle. My favourite part was making the pictures into ovals. My least favourite part was writing metamorphosis because it is such a long word! If you were to learn about the cicada life cycle what part would be your favourite part?
Kia ora Ashlyn,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the step it up activity this afternoon, you have created an excellent slide!
Your cicada life cycle was explained very clearly, I learnt a lot from reading that so thank you! Did you know that cicadas live underground as nymphs for 3-5 years? That's a long time, wow!
Have you heard cicadas this summer? I don't think I have heard them much, although I don't have many trees near my house so that might be why!
Keep up the excellent work.
Ngā mihi,
Lauren
Hi lauren its Ashlyn I have heard heaps and heaps of cicadas this summer. They sound like summer!
DeleteKia ora anō Ashlyn,
DeleteThats cool that you've heard so many! You are right, they do sound like summer! What do you think looks like summer? I think the big red Pōhutukawa trees look like summer for me.
Hope you are having an excellent Christmas eve, and have a wonderful summer with your whanau (and the cicadas!)
Ngā mihi,
Lauren
Kia ora Ashlyn,
ReplyDeleteI like the way you have clearly shown us the cicada lifecycle. My favourite part is that they live underground for such a long time. 3-5 years in NZ but up to 17 years in some countries. Also, they can all come out of the ground at the same time. How do they know how to do that?

Maria

My name is Quein and I am a blog commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. It was Awesome that you shared your mahi with your fellow bloggers.I really enjoyed the layout of your presentation, it was clear and concise. The images were well chosen and worked well with the background. Overall it was a very enagianing and educational presentation of the Cicadas life cycle- Ka Pai!!!!
Cicadas are very loud, they easily rival construction equipment and motorcycles, however, also find that when there are a few of them the sound they make can be relaxing especially when you are enjoying the summer sun. Have you seen cicadas in real life? What do you think about them?
Keep up the Super work and have a Super Summer!!!
